Empowering Adolescents For A Better Future (EABF)

Introduction:

Empowering Adolescents for a Better Future (EABF) is a community-based initiative implemented by St. John’s Ambulance Association, Raiganj, with support from the Azim Premji Foundation.

The project focuses on improving the overall well-being of adolescent girls (10–19 years) by strengthening their life skills, health awareness, safety, and confidence to make informed decisions for a better future.

Through structured group activities, capacity building, and community engagement, the project addresses key adolescent issues such as health and nutrition, education, gender equality, protection, and psychosocial well-being, while actively involving families, schools, and local stakeholders.

Key Activities:

Baseline survey on the status of adolescent girls

Staff orientation and residential training

Formation of adolescent girls’ groups

Life Skill Education (LSE) sessions

Awareness campaigns led by adolescent groups

Exposure visits for peer leaders

Quarterly peer-leader review and learning meetings

Meetings with mothers and parents

Special sessions with school teachers and SMC members

Stakeholder meetings with PRI members and local leaders

Formation of Anti-Violence Task Force Committees

Mid-term assessment of adolescent girls’ progress

Development of interactive LSE learning tools and games

Monthly staff review meetings

District and block-level orientation meetings
